What Powers the R 1300 GS

The BMW R 1300 GS is 26 pounds lighter than its predecessor. It is loaded with updated standard features and equipment. Newly designed frame, engine and convenience features make this motorcycle a joy to ride.

• 1,300 cc Boxer twin engine – Air/liquid-cooled, DOHC, ShiftCam VVT, four valves per cylinder
• New timing chain, revised cam timing, higher compression ratio and larger valves
• Road, Rain, Eco and Enduro standard ride modes – Ride Modes Pro is optional and adds Dynamic, Dynamic Pro and Enduro Pro
• Laser-welded and precisely formed sheet-metal main frame replaces the previous tubular-steel space frame
• Cast-aluminum subframe replaces the previous tubular-steel subframe, decreasing the weight of the motorcycle and providing better riding dynamics and stability
• Available suspension options – adaptive height control and sports suspension for off-roading
